The closing ceremony of the Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) Training, organised by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was held at the Dh. Vaanee Campus on 3 September 2026.
A total of 19 participants took part in the training, which was designed to strengthen their knowledge, operational capabilities, and practical skills in conducting safe, effective, and professional VBSS operations.
Throughout the programme, participants engaged in a comprehensive combination of theoretical and practical sessions covering key aspects of maritime law enforcement operations, including vessel approach and assessment, safe boarding procedures, systematic search techniques, identification and handling of relevant items and evidence, seizure procedures, operational safety, team coordination, and effective decision-making during maritime operations.
The training also strengthened participants’ understanding of international standards, operational procedures, legal considerations, and best practices relevant to VBSS operations. Practical exercises enabled participants to apply their knowledge in realistic operational scenarios, enhancing their confidence and readiness to carry out maritime interdiction activities.
